Nick's Highlight
The Jack 9's continued there winnings ways with a hard fought win over price attack 3-1. A new player to the team (thor) got the first try after The Pipes gave him a lovely short ball. The next 10 min was back and forth before Stepy did one of his trademark in and away and dove over in the corner. Price Attack then scored a controversial try where the player droped the ball over the line but was given. The last try come from The Sensation when he strolled through a huge gap down the middle. The play of the day was a easy decision after Nick took a beautiful intercept and was away with only stepy within 10 metres and then "it" happened. He started to fall, then he was falling, then finaly he was down and out with a cheer from the crowd. The Jack 9's now have a 3 week break before the continue total domination!!!

Jack 9's thump Ruffle boyz
Jack 9's put on their most devestating display lastnight, in disposing of division 5 rejects the ruffle boyz 7-0.
Scott piper was the star of the show bagging 4 tries taking his season tally to 10. Nic Frail and Craig Piper got their first tries of the season, while a length of the field intercept from mark astill with minutes left took his season tally to 5.
With a few players missing under suspicious circumstances some of the team have questioned these players commitment to the team, and if their attitude continues through to next week they will be asked to hand their jerseys in.

Shannon wins again
Havent updated the poker results for a fair while, but some results of late have been shannon winning 2 events in 2 weeks and myself winning an event 3 weeks ago, all the hoopla has seemed to have died down since last season as new era back up there big talk with 23 event wins last season.

Jack 9's win streak continues
An under-maned jack 9's proved they are a force to be reckoned with with a stella 5-1 victory tonight. Playing with only 5 players for 10 minutes and 6 for the remainder of the game, Jack 9's crushed their opposition into submission on the back of a MOM performance from Mark Astill, scoring 2 and setting up another mark was a worthy players player.
Scott piper continued his great form in scoring an individual length of the field try and setting up another.
Tries: Mark Astill -2
Scott Piper - 1
Chris Mauler - 1
Curtis Gillard - 1

Craig "pipes" Piper wins another event
This has become a regular occurance this season for craig adding another victory to his poker resume. This time it was the OPC's Kerry Selwood who couldnt withstand the power of Pipes poker play this season as he marched towards victory at the royal lastnight. With some luck but mainly poker class craig secured his 3rd event win this season, and cementing New Era as the Pinnacle of poker teams in the central west
James Mann continues New eras dominance
James "ace" Mann won his second event of the current season, beating top 5 donkey ben "cabbie" Elms at the ex-services club sunday event a. Even with all his donkey powers ben could not over come one of the regions bests players, and shows that class does prevail over ass.

Top 5 donkey's in orange
The blogs have been quiet for a while so ill spice things up a bit
Heres my top 5:
1)Jamie Byrnes - Been playing ever since it started and still thinks ace anything is good, i remember seeing him re-raise all in once with ace 5, turned out the original raiser had pocket aces but hey, it was suited.
2)Mark Storey- Much in the same mould as Jamie, finds it hard to fold any ace, at any situation, regaurdless of how many all ins there are before him if he sees an ace hes in
3)Shane Hovey - This guy is the shit stain on the underpants of poker..... Seriously, anyone who knows him knows i dont need to go any further with this
4)Benjamin Elems- "Cabbie" as hes known around around here, is possibly the worst player that i have ever seen, any 2 cards and hes in a pot, will hold on to low pockets even if the board shows all overs, maybe he just doesnt understand the basics of poker? I'm not sure.
5)Andrew Stephenson- Ill just paint a picture for u all about stuff this guy does each week. There is a raise a re- raise all in in front of him, this is remotley early in the game blinds are 200/400 so seeing this he puts all bar a few chips of his in the centre, the original raiser calls aswell. So when the cards turn over there is Pocket Jacks, Ace 10 and andrew turns over JACK 10. I wish this was a one off but he does it each week, there for earning his spot on the list.
Other noteables are Gussy, Kate Seton, Paul Honeyman

New Era Go 1 - 2 At The Royal
Chris "The Sensation" Mauler took out the event over fellow new era member Mat Cox. In a longer than usual heads up battle, which saw the chip lead switch hands on multiple occasions, The Sensation caught Mat bluffing winning the event with King High after the flop of 6-2-6 mat pushed all his chips in the centre, smelling larceny the sensation, after careful consideration, called and the rest is history
Other news from the night was Craig "pipes" Piper continuing his good form finishing 4th for the fourth consecutive time at the royal.

Well done Pipes!

The Sensation finishes second for the second time in 3 events
Lastnight Chris "The Sensation" Mauler fell at the last hurdle finishing second at the royal, this is the second time in the last 3 events at the royal where "the Sensation" has fallen just short of victory even though he had the best hand both times when all the chips were put in the centre, but the cards fell the other way.
New era had 4 representitives at the final table with Craig "pipes" Piper continuing his great form with 4th place Mark "the Instigator" Beard placing 5th and Daniel "the lumberjack" Burfitt finishing 7th

APL needs to pick its act up
Whats goin on with the APL of late? They havent been correctly updating the leaderboards on a weekly basis, the results from last tuesdays Royal Hotel event still havent been posted, you have players playing more events then actually stated on the leaderboards, and finally they havent paid New era member and regional champ Craig Piper his money for winning the regional finals, something that was supposed to be done over a week ago! Get your act together guys, you are starting to make the NPL look professionally run!

Royal Domination as James Mann claims victory
In a golden night for new era, where 6 members made the final 8 and 4 finished in the top, James "Ace" Mann captured the title, defeating Chris "the Sensation" Mauler heads up. In a dominating display of poker james could do no wrong even when behind pre flop the cards would fall in his favour, there for handing the sensation his first heads up loss in APL history.Well done James and all the new era crew on a great night and once again re-inforcing the fact that we are the best poker team in the region

Craig "Pipes" Piper Claims regional honours
Craig tonight won his first ever poker event and what an event to win, gunning down some of the regions finest on his way to the title. In a longer then normal heads up play, craig played faultless poker and was unlucky on several occasions not to take the title earlier, finally craig was dealt pocket 8's hit a set on the flop and Quads on the turn to seize the title, in a titanic battle.
Congratulations Pipes from all of New Era poker crew a much deserved win

How to lose 15k in chips in two hands Bathurst style
So last night 6 members of new era ventured to bathurst to play at panthers just to change things up a bit, now from what i seen bathurst would be in trouble if the proposed bathurst Vs Orange event ever eventuated.
Now this is how you bust out in 2 hands in bathurst, i was the small blind UTG raises a 1000 with one caller action rolls around to me and i look down at Ace Queen of spades, sensing that UTG had low to med pockets i raise 7k to try and isolate UTG but should have known better as i was in bathurst and they do play any two cards big blind commits him self all in and the initial caller also put them selves all in along with UTG, sensing i was up against atleast a Pocket Kings or Aces, i was amazed when the cards rolled over. UTG had exactly what i expected Pocket Jacks but the other 2 i was surprised at the initial caller had Ace Jack os and the big blind turned over A dirty King 10 os, no prizes for guessing who won, thats right King 10, the worst hand pre flop, hit the 10 on the turn and king on the river to send the UTG and initial caller packing lucky for me i still had around 8k in chips left
now having not played a except for my blind for about 10 mins and being moved to another table, blinds have increased to 1000/500, so im big blind have 3 limp ins including SB so i look down at my cards and see Pocket aces. so i put my last 6k in chips in UTG hesitantly folds his low suited connectors and the rest fold around to the small blind who called me out of "Boredom" turns over queen jack os, sensing the inevidable he hit runner runner jacks to take me out, so if this is how bathurst players roll they wouldnt even come close in the event
other noteable hands that got cracked with shit were
darren morris pocket queens and jacks cracked by 5,8 and and 9,7 respectively

Orange Vs Bathurst event
Now ive started the poll this is a place where you could voice an opinion on how it could work. Would it be the top 16 players from each town in the region at the time or maybe a "captain" from each town selects a team of 16 or something along those lines. I think if the APL can do this for this region it would be great it could settle alot of old scores, maybe put up some state champ tickets or even a cash prize because this region does seem to get neglected in some aspects of a major event, so post your opinions even though i expect bathurst players to avoid this as they know 1) they are inferior players (lol) 2) they wouldnt travel further then kelso to play if it ever eventuated

New Era continue its great run
Lastnight at the royal team new era continued its good form with mat cox finishing second and chris mauler 3rd and curtis mann 8th, in what was an interesting final table mat just fell short of victory but it was seeming inevidable that he would lose as it didnt matter what 2 cards the winner had she would hit, wayne selwood flew the flag for the opc again finishing 5th and one would have to wonder if it wasnt for wayne and ian kenny would the opc even be competitive

Can any other team in the central west match this?
Since Team New Era formed around a month ago, we have had an incredible start as a team, so i thought i would post some statistics on how our team has done in there first month:
Total Team Wins: 7
Final 8: 25
Top 16's: 31
not a bad effort for the new team in town and i must say i dont think any other team can match this effort in the last month, and these dont include the sunday A event either as they arent on the site for some reason and the wins arent included as top 8s either they are seperate, so ive got a question for tamin, if we are the worst poker team in the region according to you of course, why dont you post the best teams statistics according to you?
keep it going lads, unfortunatly i wont be there tonight but i will have someone there giving me updates.
Number 1 team in the central west is New Era, we told you all before we started, dont act surprised

Daniel "Lumberjack" Burfitt joins team New Era
Daniel has become the latest addition replacing Shannon "wolf" Hart who moved to QLD, however shannon is still part of New Era but representing us in QLD
Daniel wasted no time showing he is worthy of a place in this elite team by finishing a strong 3rd on debut for us lastnight, craig piper continued his good form by placing 6th and james mann another strong finish placing 8th
Also lastnight 4 New Era members ventured down to the Aaron hotel to play in the NPL $10 buy-in event with all doing well with Jason Hurford finishing 3rd Darren Morris 4th and myself 6th while Mark Beard finished 12th
I must say having now played in both leagues the APL is a standout with the way its run the NPL seemed to lack the atmosphere and vibe of the APL and as such i will not be playing in anyNPL free rolls, and only play the cash events when there is a first prize of over $200, the NPL needs to step there game up with the way its run or it wont last in Orange

Pipes just falls short of maiden APL win
New Era member Craig "pipes" Piper failed in his bid to win his first APL event finishing a gallant second at the ex services club on thursday night, starting the final table as the short stack pipes fought his way to heads up only to run into pocket Queens in the first hand of heads up and crashing out, i feel a win is not far away for pipes as his poker play has improved this season and if the bloke who won last night can win theres hope for anyone LOL

Shannon gets 3rd but OPC have the last laugh
Shannon "wolf" Hart finished 3rd at the royal hotel last night but the winner on the night was the OPC leading player Ian "turtle" "buddah" Kenny who took out myself (with a lucky turn) and shannon lastnight on his way to victory over Stan "ive got a million bad beat stories" Lafferty, this is a wake up call to New Era that we will have to perform on a weekly basis if we are to be able to claim best in the west honors, the war has just begun

With a new Season comes a New Era
As a new season begins today, our team will be trying to become the most dominant team in the region, while having 3 of the top 4 players from last season we cant claim no victory as the team was only formed a week ago but this season we will see who is the best out west, now i know some players from the OPC (beau) dont rate the free poker and i do agree with him on a certain level but this is all we have here and some people do like it and we have to deal with it, so good luck new era members and fellow teams from the region, let the new season begin
Friday, 29 June 2007
Congratulations James "ACE" Mann
With a 8th place finish lastnight James secured the top spot in the region for this season with an average of 49.10 spanning over 52 events James has shown why he is a very highly regaurded poker player.
Other honourable mentions are Darren Morris and Shannon Hart who barring some unlucky results tonight will finish 3rd and 4th respectivley, congratulations on superb seasons from you all and lets continue the great poker and assert ourselves as the dominant poker team in this region

Two New players join New Era
The New Era poker Crew would like to welcome there 2 new members to the team Tim Bouffler and Scott Rawson, Welcome guys, now i know these two players were being scouted by the OPC but have chosen to join the new team on the block, i predict tough time ahead for the OPC now as theres not much talent left to fill the massive holes left by the departure of former OPC members
