Jack 9's Win Grand Final 4-2

jack 9s triumphed over the skainsies 4-2 in a close game as predicited. jack 9s hit the ground running scoring on the second play of the game when darren morris jnr sprinted 30 metres to get the scoring under way, then 2 minutes later jack 9s were in again when season MVP scott piper scored to put jack 9's 2-0 up early, that try by scott ensured that he scored atleast 1 try in every game this year, an exceptional effort that im sure has never been matched. Skainsies hit back 5 minutes later with there first try to hayden spencer, a quiet period in the game 10 minutes seen the team go back and forth before MOM mark astill scored to put jack9s up 3-1 before skainsies hit straight back with their second try to michael dillion, then drama struck when chris mauler was sensationally sin binned for back chat when it was infact a spectator on the side line who was disgruntled with a controversial decision, one of many by one certain referee who seemed to be trying to keep the skainsies in the game. But nothing was to stop jack 9s on this night as mark astill bagged his second try with 3 minutes to seal the game for jack 9s 4-2.
A big congratulations to all the boys for their efforts this season, and hopefully the boys will run around again next year.

In a match up no one expected Jack 9's will face The Skainsies in the grand final. Boasting a season series record of 2 wins and a draw verse the Skainsies and on the back of a week off Jack nines will enter this game as hot favourites.
Skainsies have had to qualify the hard way winning 2 elimination final by 1 point, first against the typhoons 7-6 then the upset of the finals defeating red bulls 5-4 in a heated encounter.

Jack 9's qualified for the grand final with a win over red bulls 9-4 2 weeks ago and have had the luxury of a week off.

The last time these 2 teams met, it was a jack 9's massacre defeating them 11-2, however the previous 2 clashes have been much closer with a 3 all draw and jack 9's win 4-2.

with only 1 loss all season jack 9's will be heavy favourites enetering the contest but season form means nothing heading into this clash, and jack 9's will have to be switched on if they are to continue this amazing season.
with the return of Aaron Willis jack 9's will have that spark out of the dummy half area, scott piper will look to continue his amazing run bagging 36 tries this season and is the key man for jack 9's. other players to look out for are ball playing wiz mark astill who had a field day in the semi final bagging 3 tries and setting up several others, and darren morris jnr, the self proclaimed fastest man alive has been in scintilating form the last 5 weeks bagging tries in every game.
If form is anything to go by jack 9's will win this contest but we all know thats not always the case, and we expect a tough game, but with class all across the field and too many strike weapons its hard to see an upset but you never know in this crazy world.

In the major semi final Jack 9's played Red Bulls the only team to beat them in thg in the regular season, so Jack 9's where fired up for this one. We got of to a good start with Curt scoring in the corner. That was followed by a great intercept by Yappa. Then Jack 9's scored again through Stepy after a pass from The Sensation. Red Bulls then got a try before the game went end to end before Nick through a dummy and sliced through to make the score 4-1. Red bulls then bounced back scoring again before Morris crossed for 1 and Stepy got his second. Red bulls then scored before Nick through another dummy and sliced through again, making the score 7-3. Stepy then got his third followed by Yapp getting his second. Red Bulls then got a late try to make it 9-4 showing that they are Grand final matrerial.

See you in two weeks when we dominate whoever we have to play.

Jack 9's #1

In the last game of regular season Jack 9's sent a msg to the other teams by downing number 3 seed Typhoons 9-1. The standout where Mark Astill, Darren Morris, Aaron Willis all getting Doubles. Captain grumpy (The Sensation) got 1 as well as Stepy and Nick Frail both got 1 each.

Jack 9's didn't really play there best and where still able to demolish a top team sending a clear msg that they are indeed the team to beat. Overall this season has been a great year but taking the minor premiership is only the first step. We will need to step it up in the finals to make sure you we take out the comp.

Finally some season tally's Caveman And Stepy where the only to players to play all 15 games showing true commitment, Stepy especialy after playing a week after being hit by a car to keep his streak alive. Leading try scoriers where Stepy who finished with 33 then darren morris with 16 then Mark Astill with 15.

Jack 9's bounce back but in scrappy performance

In what on paper looked like another devestating display, Jack 9's bounced back from there only defeat of the season to thrash dictation 12-1. but the scoreline was not a true indication of the form we showed with alot of dropped ball and side to side plays. Scott "stepy" Piper was up to his old tricks bagging 4 tries. Aaron willis got 2 along with Darren Morris jnr.
Next week poses a big task up against in form typhoons, and a much improved effort is needed if we are to bag the points.

SHOCK

The Jack 9's have suffered there first loss of the season going down 5-4 to Redbulls.

The game started of like most others with Jack 9's getting of to a great start with Stepy putting Morris over for a early try before scoring one himself. Redbulls then scored a try before Stepy replyed with his second to send the score to 3-1. This is when Jack 9's just switch off and let Redbulls come back and tie the game. This is when Stepy got his 3rd for the game but it was not enough Jack 9's defence was just not up to its usual standard and the Redbulls manage to late tries to steal the match.

We play Dictation next week and we will have to control the ball alot better and get there defence back on track if we dont want another lost to our record.

Undefeated season still in grasp

Despite a less than impressive performance, Jack 9's won there 10 straight game in defeating Price Attack 3-2 thanks to last minute heroics from Scott "stepy" Piper. with the game destined for a draw, scott capitalised on a quick dump, from the sensation and split 2 defenders to run the length of the field, but being dummy half scott could not score the try and had to wait for the support to arrive, and it did so in the form of craig "caveman" piper scoring his second try of the game to seal the victory for the jack 9's.
With only 3 games left Jack 9's are closing in on finishing the season undefeated, we will need to improve though as we play teams 2 (red bulls) and 3 (typhoons) in the next 3 weeks.

Still Rolling

In the past two week Jack 9's have won 9-2 over the Skainsies and 13-2 over The Ruffle Boys. The boys have put in a couple of solid performances.

In the game against the Skainsies Scott (Stepy) Piper was a stand out scoring 4 tries, he was well back up by Mark Astill who scored 3. Aaron Willis also had a solid game. This game came at a price with Mark (Ladderman) Beard went down with a knee injury.

One week later the boys where at it again with Stepy bagging 4 more and Darren (The Fastest Man Alive) Morris Jr got 3. Mark Astill got 2 aswell as Aaron (Stump) Willis bagged a double aswell. In this game there was not a bad player on the field with everyone contributing in some way.

Good couple of weeks boys lets keep the good work up.

Jack 9's Worst Still The Best

In there worst game to date the Jack 9's still came away with a 5-3 victory over Typhoons. jack 9's droped alot of ball early but were still able to come score the first try through some quick hands from The Pipes and Stump to put "The fastest man alive" morris over. Jack 9's were soon in again through Nick "no make up" Frail. Then the Jack 9's went through a rough patch after The Sensation was binned this lead to 2 Typhoon try's. It was then a arm wrestle before Stepy hop skiped and ran away for another long range try bring his tally to 16. Then the Typhoons tied it up at 3 all after some bad decsion went against Jack 9's. The next try was a family act when Stepy ran a great decoy and some quick thinking from The Pipes help him to dive over for a soft try. The final try come with seconds on the clock when Stepy found some space drew the winger in and put Stump down the sideline for the match winner. Special mention to the Instigator for dropping the ball of the game from Stepy, a great cut out ball to put him in space with a 3 man overlap.

Good effort boys but alot of improvement needed if we want to stay undefeated!!!

Jack 9's run riot

On the back of dominating performances from scott "stepy" piper (3 tries) and Darren "fastest man alive" morris (4 tries) Jack 9's thrashed a helpless dictation team 13-1, in what was a devastating display that would of sent chills down the spine of division rivals, jack 9's scored on only the 3rd play of the game and from there the rest was history.
mark beard (2 tries) and Nick frail (2 tries) also had excellent games in what was an all round great team performance.

But now for the bad news. After such a stella performance it comes with much dissapointment to announce that 3 players have been cut due to their lack of commitment to the team, with much discussion from the team after the match we decided to cut Thor Sutherland, Joe bennetts and Damien walsh, although they seemed commited at seasons start, between them have only played 5 games, and as a team we see this as unacceptable when we are out there in 34 degree + temperatures and they are sitting in there lounge rooms or playing free roll poker events. sorry guys but you made the decision for us.

Nick's Highlight

The Jack 9's continued there winnings ways with a hard fought win over price attack 3-1. A new player to the team (thor) got the first try after The Pipes gave him a lovely short ball. The next 10 min was back and forth before Stepy did one of his trademark in and away and dove over in the corner. Price Attack then scored a controversial try where the player droped the ball over the line but was given. The last try come from The Sensation when he strolled through a huge gap down the middle. The play of the day was a easy decision after Nick took a beautiful intercept and was away with only stepy within 10 metres and then "it" happened. He started to fall, then he was falling, then finaly he was down and out with a cheer from the crowd. The Jack 9's now have a 3 week break before the continue total domination!!!

Jack 9's thump Ruffle boyz

Jack 9's put on their most devestating display lastnight, in disposing of division 5 rejects the ruffle boyz 7-0.
Scott piper was the star of the show bagging 4 tries taking his season tally to 10. Nic Frail and Craig Piper got their first tries of the season, while a length of the field intercept from mark astill with minutes left took his season tally to 5.
With a few players missing under suspicious circumstances some of the team have questioned these players commitment to the team, and if their attitude continues through to next week they will be asked to hand their jerseys in.

Shannon wins again

Havent updated the poker results for a fair while, but some results of late have been shannon winning 2 events in 2 weeks and myself winning an event 3 weeks ago, all the hoopla has seemed to have died down since last season as new era back up there big talk with 23 event wins last season.
We are still here and we are still dominating!

A once again under-strength Jack 9's fought out a tough 3-2 win over their latest opponents. with only 7 players jack 9's toughed it out to stay on top of their division. scott aaron and damo each bagged a try in the win to improve the season record to 4 wins 1 draw from 5 games

Jack 9's win streak continues

An under-maned jack 9's proved they are a force to be reckoned with with a stella 5-1 victory tonight. Playing with only 5 players for 10 minutes and 6 for the remainder of the game, Jack 9's crushed their opposition into submission on the back of a MOM performance from Mark Astill, scoring 2 and setting up another mark was a worthy players player.

Touch footy results

Some of the boys from poker and a few from outside of poker decided to throw together a team for the season called the "Jack 9's", some poker players in the team are OPC members Thor sutherland and Joe "tampon" bennetts ( in for 1 week out for 3 lol) darren morris jnr craig piper mark beard mark astill and myself.
So far we are undefeated with 2 wins and a draw from our first 3 games, with our latest win a 5-1 romp against a team clearly inferior in all aspects

Darren Morris Snr wins at ex servies

Darren defeated Tim Bouffler heads up at the club and further extending his regional lead, in what capped off a great week for new era, taking a clean sweep of all event for the week, further proving that new era are the best team in the central west.

Craig continues his winning ways

Having started this season without a win in around 100 events played, craig has now won 4 events this season in going back 2 back at the royal hotel lastnight. In a poor showing from the orange shire with only 20 people showing up, craig beat new era apprentice Darren Morris junior heads up with the great cards 5 2 off suit, craig secured new era their 19th team win this season, streaks ahead of any other team out west

Craig "pipes" Piper wins another event

This has become a regular occurance this season for craig adding another victory to his poker resume. This time it was the OPC's Kerry Selwood who couldnt withstand the power of Pipes poker play this season as he marched towards victory at the royal lastnight. With some luck but mainly poker class craig secured his 3rd event win this season, and cementing New Era as the Pinnacle of poker teams in the central west

James Mann continues New eras dominance

James "ace" Mann won his second event of the current season, beating top 5 donkey ben "cabbie" Elms at the ex-services club sunday event a. Even with all his donkey powers ben could not over come one of the regions bests players, and shows that class does prevail over ass.
